An artillery strike occurred in the vicinity of the Lebanon-Israel border on Friday morning, as captured in a Reuters livestream, which struck in the vicinity of a Reuters journalists who died on the scene. However, the camera did not focus on the specific location of impact, and the incident itself was not captured on video.

Amidst the livestream, a resounding and high-pitched explosion was audible, suggesting that the rocket made contact with the vicinity. Instantly, cries of distress filled the air, while smoke and fragments obscured the surroundings.

A female individual can be heard vociferously inquiring about the events that transpired, expressing her distress by repeatedly exclaiming, “What happened?” She is further heard loudly exclaiming her inability to sense any sensation in her lower limbs. Additionally, in the backdrop, a male voice can be heard expressing his frustration through screaming and using profanities.

Supplementary videos posted on publicly accessible information platforms indicated that the artillery had seemingly detonated close to the journalists’ vicinity, resulting in a section of the nearby road being engulfed in flames. Within the footage, an individual makes an effort to provide assistance to a wounded woman, who is adorned with a noticeable “press” insignia on her vest.

Reuters discontinued the live broadcast on Friday shortly after the occurrence.

According to the non-profit organization Committee to Protect Journalists, there have been documented cases of at least 10 journalists losing their lives while reporting on the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza. The war stems from Hamas’ unexpected terrorist attacks in Israel, which resulted in over 1,000 Israeli casualties. Additionally, the Israeli Air Force has conducted subsequent air strikes in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of over 1,000 individuals, a significant number of whom are children.
