Beloved television actress Suzanne Somers, renowned for her iconic roles in TV classics such as “Three’s Company” and “Step by Step,” passed away peacefully at the age of 76, as confirmed by her longtime publicist R. Couri Hay. Somers, who had battled an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years, passed away surrounded by her devoted husband Alan, her son Bruce, and close family members at her home during the early hours of October 15th. Her family, initially planning to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16th, will now commemorate her remarkable life, expressing gratitude to her millions of adoring fans.

Suzanne Somers, born Suzanne Marie Mahoney on October 16, 1946, in San Bruno, California, embarked on her acting journey in the late ’60s and early ’70s, securing minor roles in notable films like “Bullitt” (1968) and “Magnum Force” (1973). However, it was her appearances in popular TV shows of the 1970s, including “The Rockford Files,” “One Day at a Time,” and “The Love Boat,” that solidified her presence in the entertainment industry.

Her breakthrough came when she portrayed the endearing Chrissy Snow in the ABC sitcom “Three’s Company.” The show, which aired from 1977 to 1984, turned her into a household name, although her journey on the series was marred by controversy. Somers demanded equal pay with her male co-star John Ritter, leading to her departure in 1981. Despite facing criticism, Somers persisted, starring in various TV projects and even headlining one-woman shows in Las Vegas during the 1980s and 2015.
