Officials have reported that a new group of migrants, numbering around 20, arrived in Sacramento on Monday via a private plane.

On Monday, Governor Gavin Newsom commented on the situation where two groups of migrants were left in Sacramento, suggesting that Governor Ron DeSantis should face kidnapping charges. The comment made implies that DeSantis played a part in this situation, indicating that he should be held responsible.

In a tweet directed at Ron DeSantis, Newsom called him a “small” and “pathetic” man, while also bringing up the issue of kidnapping charges. He emphasized that Florida is not the same as Martha’s Vineyard.

He attached an image that displayed a section of the California Legislative Information’s penal code on kidnapping to the recipient.

Attorney General Rob Bonta has accused Florida of arranging for the transportation of the first group of South American migrants from Texas to California and dropping them off in Sacramento. Bonta is investigating whether any crimes were committed in this process. The evidence suggests that there is a strong indication of foul play by Florida authorities, though further investigation is needed to confirm the veracity of these claims.

According to Sacramento’s Roman Catholic Church diocese, if the facts are correct, a group of 16 Colombian and Venezuelan migrants might be the most recent group to have relocated from a state governed by Republicans to one led by Democrats. These migrants had documents that seemed to come from Florida, however, the exact circumstances leading to their arrival in Sacramento are still being investigated. According to a spokesperson from the California Department of Justice, another set of migrants, numbering around 20, landed in Sacramento on a chartered flight on Monday morning. This development is meant to persuade the reader that there has been another influx of migrants in the area.

The California Department of Justice (DOJ) has established communication with the group. According to a spokesperson, it seems that the latest flight was carried out by the same company affiliated with the group that arrived on Friday, and who possessed official documents from the State of Florida. The representative stated that the flight was arranged by Vertol Systems Co., the same provider that had organized transportation for migrants to Martha’s Vineyard in the recent past. Based on the data obtained from flight tracking, it appears that the aircraft was intended to arrive at Sacramento McClellan Airport but instead landed at Sacramento Executive Airport. The initial wave of immigrants arrived in the United States via the state of Texas.

According to Eddie Carmona, the campaign director at PICO California, a faith-based group that assists migrants, young females and males who had already received court dates for their asylum cases after being processed by U.S. immigration officials were approached by people from a private contractor outside an El Paso, Texas migrant center. These individuals offered assistance to help the migrants secure jobs and reach their intended destinations. Carmona feels that the contractor was trying to exploit the migrants for their personal gain.

Carmona stated that the migrants were purposely misled and given false information, leaving them confused and unaware of where they were when they were dropped off in Sacramento. He further explained that these migrants have court dates in various cities across the country, including Texas, and that arriving in California was not their intended destination.

According to California officials, a group of migrants were transported from Texas to New Mexico before being flown to the capital of California via a charter plane. They were then dropped off in front of the diocese’s headquarters.

Tara Gallegos, a representative for Bonta, stated that the migrants were allegedly transported through a program facilitated by Florida’s Division of Emergency Management and carried out through Vertol Systems Co. While documents supporting this claim do exist, they cannot be disclosed as they are currently being examined as part of an ongoing investigation. Last year, the State of Florida compensated a contractor with a sum of $1.56 million to transfer migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts through charter flights. DeSantis, who is vying for the GOP candidacy for president, has strongly opposed President Joe Biden’s federal immigration policies and has frequently highlighted Florida’s involvement in moving migrants to Democrat-led states in the past. These actions indication that he is trying to further persuade voters to consider him as a viable candidate for the presidency.

DeSantis has made the migrant relocation program a key focus of his political agenda, utilizing the state legislative process to allocate significant funds towards it. This demonstrates a persuasive effort on his part to convince the populace of the program’s importance in general.

Prior to a flight from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard in the previous year, DeSantis approved a budget supported by Republicans which allocated $12 million to transfer non-citizens residing in Florida to different areas.

When concerns were raised about the legality of the Martha’s Vineyard incident due to its origination in Texas instead of Florida, which seemingly violated budgetary regulations, DeSantis tasked Republican legislators to develop a program within his office that focuses on relocating migrants. The program is designed to allow the state to transport migrants from any location across the country.

DeSantis’ leadership has chosen three vendors to support the transportation of migrants. Unfortunately, both Vertol Systems and DeSantis’ team have failed to respond to inquiries for a comment.

Alecia Collins, who represents the Florida Division of Emergency Management responsible for overseeing migrant flights in Florida, stated in an email on Monday that she was unable to verify the agency’s involvement in this recent case at the moment.

If it is established that Florida was responsible for the initial flight, it could escalate the ongoing political dispute between DeSantis and Newsom, who have fundamentally different views on topics such as immigration, abortion, and various other matters.

In his statement, Newsom conveyed that he had a meeting with the migrants who have recently arrived and emphasized that their treatment should be characterized by dignity and respect during their stay.
